2. Bacon Cheeseburger Mac

This one combines several circular specials: fresh ground beef is $5.99/lb., Bar S sliced bacon is $5.59, Essential Everyday macaroni is 5/$5, and block cheese is 2/$4.

Ingredients: 1 lb. ground beef, 4 slices bacon, 2 packages Essential Everyday macaroni, 1½ cups shredded cheese, ½ cup milk, plus salt, pepper and any favorite seasonings.

Directions: Cook the macaroni according to the package directions. Meanwhile, chop and cook the bacon in a large skillet until crisp. Remove the bacon and brown the ground beef in the same skillet. Drain any excess grease. Add the cooked macaroni, milk and cheese to the beef and stir over low heat until creamy. Stir in most of the bacon and sprinkle the remaining bacon on top.

Serves: 4–5.

These would make a nice “Cook the Circular” series for North Flint Food Market—each post could feature the finished dish alongside the sale items used to make it.
